The Indianola Community Foundation was originally established in 1995 as the Indianola Community Parks and Recreation Foundation. In 2002, the Board expanded the mission of the Foundation to encourage additional community betterment activities. Since that time, the Foundation has grown in size and scope.

The Board of Directors has the following long-term goals for the Foundation:

Expand the number of endowments to have over $1 million of assets that provide at least $40,000 in annual funding for community betterment.
Improve community awareness about the Foundation by distributing timely marketing materials, broadening participation using citizen and endowment advisory committees, and enhancing annual fundraising efforts.
